Desktop copyholders or document holders are used for holding and positioning documents in a convenient place to make data entry or copy typing as simple as possible. Historically used in conjunction with typewriters they are now frequently found next to computers as technology has moved on. A4 is by far the most common size of desktop copyholder, however some models have the functionality to extend which allows them to accommodate up to A3 size paper.

Some desktop copyholders are constructed to allow the copy to be positioned next to the PC screen at eye level. This helps reduce neck and upper back strain commonly associated with looking down for long periods. The majority of copyholders have a built in, transparent, horizontal bar which has the dual purpose of helping to hold the copy in position whilst also acting as a page marker.
