Flipchart Easels Category Guide
At the end of the day, a flipchart easels is little more than a board to support a pad of paper that is then written or drawn on, but, whilst not a particularly complex product, there’s more to flipchart easels than you might think.
To help you choose the right flipchart easel for your requirements we’ve put together this handy guide to key features available.
PortabilityIf you take your flipchart easel with you to present at different venues then consider the weight and portability of your easel. Lightweight flipchart easels weigh around 10kg whilst other portable easels can weigh around 20kg. Make sure also that the legs are collapsible or telescopic to reduce the size of the easel you need to carry around with you.
Board SurfaceAll our flipchart easels can double up as dry wipe whiteboards. Most flipchart easels will accommodate an A1 flipchart pad measuring 841 x 594mm The main differences in boards are whether they are magnetic or not. Magnetic boards offer greater flexibility in use as you can use magnets to secure charts or diagrams to the board or magnetic ‘workflow’ shaped magnets to assist with presentations. All flipchart easels from Nobo come with a 5 year guarantee on the board surface.
AccessoriesIdeally you should look for a flipchart easel with an integrated pen tray which will close to hold the pens and eraser whilst be transported. Remember that most flipchart easels double up as dry-wipe white boards so make sure you use the appropriate dry-wipe markers and not permanent markers.
Stability and mobilityThe simplest and cheapest flipchart easels have three legs, 2 at the front and a stabilising leg at the back. In most easels, the legs are extendable to allow the user to accurately set the board height for presentations. At the top end of the range, there are easels with mobile bases such as the Nobo Barracuda which has five castors at the base allowing it to be easily moved around.
Flexibility & UsabilitySome of the top of the range easels come with numerous extras such as telescopic side extending arms allowing users to display additional sheets of paper to each side of the main board. Others such as the Nobo Piranha have removable rulers allowing users to write and draw in straight lines.
