Essentially the ink cartridge is the replaceable component of an inkjet printer that contains the ink and in some cases the print head. The majority of inkjet printers used today use a thermal inkjet system where a tiny heating element inside the ink reservoir warms a small amount of the ink turning into tiny air bubbles inside the nozzle. The creation of air bubbles forces a droplet of ink out of the ink cartridge nozzle and onto the paper. This whole process takes a matter of milliseconds.
