Within the filing category of the website there are a lot of products with similar purposes and there can be some confusion regarding product names. Generally we define a plastic wallet as having a fold over flap and a press stud closure. There are some other products in this section such as the Zippa style bags but if you can’t find what you need then we suggest checking out the plastic folders and plastic pockets sections.
What to look for when buying plastic wallets......
Size - The size of the wallets you purchase will probably be dictated by the size of the paper you want them to hold. There is a big choice in wallet size with A3 being the largest down to A6 and DL at the opposite end of the scale. The most popular are by far A4 and Foolscap with foolscap being a fraction larger and therefore offering increased storage capacity.
Capacity - Here we are referring to the number of sheets the wallet will hold rather than the size of those sheets. Typically a plastic wallet will hold 150 sheets of 80gsm paper, there are some that have increased capacities of 200 sheets.
Colour - As plastic wallets are made from plastic, or polypropylene to give it the proper name, the colours available are wide and varied. Assorted packs are available from most manufacturers that give you a good mixture of colours or you can buy single colour packs if you want to match your company branding for example.
Identification - Most wallets will come with a business card size plastic pocket on the front for you to add some personalisation. This could be in the form of a business card or you can ceate your own inserts with details of the wallets contents to aid in quick identification.
Brands - There is a wide choice when it comes to manufactures of plastic wallets which is great for the consumer as it helps keep prices down and also means you have a broad selection when choosing. 5 Star, as always, is the entry level product range with key branded wallets being made by Elba, Rexel, Concord and Snopake.
Format - The vast majority of plastic wallets are landscape format with the opening on the long side, however a small number are manufactured in portrait format with the opening on the short side of the wallet.
